German courses: Fast-paced learning and international student groups

In our German courses, we offer you courses on every level according to the "Common European Framework of Reference". You have the choice between intensive courses during the mornings, German for your studies, German in evening classes or German at the weekend.

German courses at ISK Hannover for all levels at all times!

Learn German safely and interactively from home in our newly developed online German courses!

Our intensive courses are held in the morning and are designed primarily for participants who are accustomed to learning and who learn quickly. At our institute, you will learn effectively and successfully within a short period of time.

The German courses for university studies prepare students to take such examinations as TestDaF, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, Studienkolleg or DSH. A mock exam is used in all these courses to intensively practice with respective examination format.

Our service packages make it possible to combine the intensive courses (language levels A1-C1) and the examination course with the guarantee of a spot to take the TestDaF, including individual advising.

We recommend that company employees, students and doctoral candidates take advantage of our evening courses. These courses feature flexible learning concepts and individual learning support so that you can easily combine language school with your job in a way that suits you best.

In addition to German lessons, the ISK offers a varied cultural program with numerous excursions and events to give you an opportunity to discover the city and region of Hannover. The regular Meet & Greet focuses on communication in a relaxed atmosphere. The aim is for you to get to know the other language students better and to put your new language skills directly into actual practice.

First, you take an online placement test. This is required for every registration in order to assess your language level. After that, you can choose between personal advising on location in Hannover or online advising.

Every participant can take part in a counseling session and write a placement test free of charge, after doing an online placement test. If you have registered for a course directly from your home or any other country, you can take this placement test after you have arrived in Germany. This ensures that you are put into the course that corresponds to your current language level. In addition to regular skill assessment on the basis of final tests and examinations, individual talks with your trainer instructor are the best indication of your learning progress. Your trainer will assess your language level and make recommendations as to how you should best continue your training at the ISK.

Do you not yet live in Hannover and don’t want to wait until you can get an appointment here in Hannover? Then take advantage of our free online placement. We test your oral language skills, discuss the results of your written test with you and will register you officially for a specific course, if this is what you want.

We offer a wide range of German language examinations that you can take to prove language proficiency for your studies or your job.

There are internal ISK exams (A1-B2.2) for you to take in the last course week of our intensive language courses. All ISK examinations meet the criteria of the CEFR (Common European Framework).

As a licensed test center, we offer a TestDaF six times a year and many telc language exams, such as telc Deutsch B2 and telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule.

Which German course is the best one for me?

Every German course in the evening is individually tailored to the needs of the participants. Through the placement test on our website and a personal consultation, we will find out together which course suits you and with which participants you can learn best together.

At what levels are the evening courses offered?

The evening German courses for professional and academic purposes are divided into beginner, basic, intermediate and advanced levels. They each comprise 48 lessons. During this time, it is not possible to complete a whole CEFR level, as in our intensive courses with 160 lessons. In the evening German course, a part of a level can be covered. The focus is on communication and participant orientation. We put the groups together individually according to your learning needs.

How can I register for a German course in the evening?

First, you take the online placement test on our website. Then you get a free learning consultation on-site or online. This is how you can find out which course corresponds to your learning level. After the consultation, you can register for the course directly.

Your instructor will let you know on the first day of class what material you will be working with in class.

Will I receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the German course?

Yes, you will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course. There are no exams in the evening German courses. If you need a language certificate, we will be happy to inform you about the various examination options at the ISK.

How can I continue learning after completing a course?

If you have completed a German course in the evening, you can continue learning directly by signing up for the next course. The best way to find out which course is right for you is to talk to your teacher or have a personal learning consultation.

Save both time and money!

Combine your intensive course in the morning with one-on-one lessons. You want to learn faster or repeat course contents? In our combination packages, you can learn German in addition to your intensive course in private lessons from a package of 10 hours at special rates.

One-on-one lessons at special rates

For participants who have booked an intensive course, we offer individual lessons at special rates in a combination package starting at 10 hours. In the combination package you have the opportunity to catch up, deepen or repeat course content. Our teachers will give you learning tips, improve your language level and develop individual strategies for learning German together with you. We will discuss lesson times and content with you in a consultation.

Combine your intensive course with one-on-one training.

Meet & Greet - communication in a relaxed atmosphere

People from all over the world learn German at the ISK. So that you don't know only the participants that are in your own course, we organize a Meet & Greet for each course for all course levels. Typically German, games, conversations and other activities take place while we enjoy coffee and cake.

Cultural program

We offer a varied cultural program for all the participants at the ISK, with interesting excursions in Hannover and the surrounding area, summer fests and Christmas parties.

The Bildungsberatung Garantiefonds Hochschule from Caritas Hannover is the right place to go if you need guidance on your way to a German university. The counseling service is free of charge and supports those seeking advice through individual educational planning in all questions relating to the recognition of foreign educational qualifications, the various options for accessing a course of study and also with regard to financing studies. Often, educational offers, for example in the form of a language course, must be taken up in order to be able to study in Germany. In this case, it might be possible to have the course fees funded according to the University Guarantee Fund. The counseling center makes appointments on request.
