The German Test for Immigrants is the exam that is scheduled to be taken at the end of the integration course. It can be taken by any interested person in Germany. It is a scaled examination at the language levels of A2 and B1.

DTZ – German for Naturalisation

The German Language Test for Immigrants (DTZ) is taken at the end of the Integration Course. A "B1" language proficiency certificate is required for naturalisation. Participants in our Integration Courses and external participants must register for the DTZ in the ISK office in person.

The DTZ is made up of a written and an oral exam.

Written exam (100 minutes)

- Listening, part 1-4 (25 min.)

- Reading, part 1-5 (45 min.)

- Writing, 1 task (30 min.)

Oral exam for two candidates at a time (16 minutes)

- Part 1 Talking about yourself (approx. 2 minutes per candidate)

- Part 2 Talking about experiences (approx. 3 minutes per candidate)

- Part 3 Planning something together (approx. 6 minutes for both candidates)

The ISK conducts the test once a month on fixed dates. Our examination days are Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.

How can I prepare for the exam?

We recommend that you always attend our integration courses in advance. We will find the right course for you according to your language level in a placement interview.
