TOEFL Preparatory courses
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a standardized test, in which the English language skills of non-native speakers are tested. The test was developed for the university and college admission and simulated typical language situations from a degree course. The test is an admission requirement for almost all universities in the English-speaking world, especially in the USA. A certificate has a validity of up to two years after the date of the test. The TOEFL is carried out worldwide by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

The entire test lasts for four to five hours with check-in, instruction, loading times and a 10-minute break included.
Section Time Task
Reading 60-100 minutes 3-5 texts with 12-14 questions each
Listening 60-90 minutes
 4 - 6 speeches with 6 questions each
 2 - 3 dialogues with 5 questions each
Break 10 minutes
Speaking 20 minutes 6 tasks
Writing
 50 minutes

You can look up the result
of the test after approx. three weeks online on your ETS profile. You will receive the
test result by post approx.
four weeks after the test.

TOEFL Preparatory courses at the ISK
The TOEFL preparatory courses take place in cooperation with the Leibniz University of Hanover in small groups of a maximum of 12 people. With a simulated test, you will be well-prepared for the test at the end of the course.
TOEFL iBT (Internet-based test) in Hannover
In Hanover, you can do the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) at the Leibniz University and at the Fachhochschule (Polytechnic).
Dates 2012
The preparatory courses are comprised of 42 lessons and last for three weeks. On the last Saturday during the course, a test simulation takes place. The course dates, which fall on a public holiday, will be made up at a later date.

Prices and registration for the TOEFL preparatory course
The course fee for 42 lessons, including the test simulation, amounts to € 230.
The admission requirements for this course are adequate language skills, which correspond to the level of B1/B2 of the Common European Reference Framework for Languages (for example, “Leistungskurs” English). The registration can be done at the ISK office or by e-mail (officeisk-hannover.de).

The Price of the test amounts to US$ 240 (Stand August 2011).
